This website contains various writings of my father John S Moore and pulls together content previously held across different websites including his main website mith.demon.co.uk, which is no longer online. John’s writing was wide-ranging and includes several books, numerous papers read at conferences (many of them papers on Nietzsche read at the annual Friedrich Nietzsche Society conference). John was primarily interested in philosophy and some esoteric traditions and personalities.
A good deal of his work focused on Nietzsche, Aleister Crowley and later in his life, Edward Bulwer-Lytton. John also wrote several scripts for plays intended for the stage. Thorkell and Alphege, based on the real events of the 1011 siege of Canterbury by the Viking Thorkell the Tall is my favourite.
He was also a poet and wrote several collections of poetry. He collated what he considered the best of these into the book 100 Poems which he published shortly before his death in 2019. I interviewed him speaking about this in an audio recording which you can hear here.
There is still more to add to this site and I’ll endeavour to keep developing and optimising it. I’ve tried to separate the content logically with a section for his published books, another for plays, another for essays, and another for papers which he read at events. I’ve also added an ‘interviews‘ section and his Youtube video channel, which is where most of the interviews sit.
